General functions
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and administrative supervision of the South Darfur Head of Sub-Office and the technical guidance of the Registration Coordinator, the incumbent will manage implementation of the IOM-led Darfur IDP Registration system in South Darfur
Specifically, the Registration Officer will be responsible for the following tasks in South Darfur:

Develop strong relationships and liaise with UN Agencies, (I)NGOs, government officials, and community/IDP leaders to facilitate the successful implementation of project activities

Oversee the re-verification of camp-based populations in South Darfur, including planning, budgeting, sensitisation, training, logistics, implementing field-based exercises, cross checking of data in South Darfur, and serving as the linkage to IOM's Database Unit in Khartoum

Oversee the registration and verification of newly displaced populations in South Darfur

Provide direct support, guidance and supervision to IOM field registration staff and data entry clerks monitor their activities to ensure quality control and adherence to the project implementation timeframe recruit and train national registration staff and enumerators

Prepare and manage the training and support to contracted enumerators, WFP counterparts and implementing partners on the established IOM re-verification and new registration methodologies

Contribute to any revisions/updating required to the project methodology and tools

Ensure the control and confidentiality of all registration data, including tally sheets, completed verification and registration forms and data files, and fingerprinting data

Contribute to and review the statistical reports and IDP displacement and related maps and tools prepared by the IOM Khartoum database unit

Maintain continuous dialogue within IOM to facilitate a coordinated approach to project implementation contribute to activity and donor reports

Any other duties as assigned

Qualifications

(Education, Experience and Competencies)i
University degree preferably in demography, statistics, or mathematics A degree in humanitarian affairs, international development, law, political science, international relations, human rights or anthropology may also be accepted Good knowledge of the North African region an asset
Three to five years of professional experience, with at least one year of field experience with refugees or IDPs in a complex humanitarian emergency or post-conflict environment Experience in IDP/refugee profiling/registration is particularly sought after
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, as well as computer and analytical skills Candidates must have familiarity with the UN system and basic field security protocol, including use of radio communications Personal commitment, flexibility and ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from various cultures and professional background Ability to work under tight timelines and stressful and insecure conditions
Thorough knowledge of English Knowledge of Arabic is an asset
