Background

Oxfam GB has been working in southern Sudan since 1983. Thematic areas of programming include Public Health, Livelihoods, Peace building and Emergency Preparedness and Response, underpinned by crosscutting activities in Gender and Advocacy. Oxfam GB works with local communities and is increasingly involved in building the capacity of partners, communities and local government institutions. Oxfam GB’s country office is based in Juba, with operational base in Upper Nile, Lakes and Western Equatoria states, while the Emergency Preparedness and Response team operates across all ten states of southern Sudan. The Oxfam GB in Southern Sudan is currently seeking an effective & motivated individual to join the team as the Roving/Donor accountant

The Role

Reporting to the Southern Sudan Finance Manager, the Roving/Donor Accountant will ensure effective financial and budget management in field locations and donor reporting at Juba and field level through effective financial accounting. She/he will work closely with the Country Finance & Systems Manager to ensure that the Sudan Programme field offices maintain a high standard of accounting and financial control and be responsible for the efficient management of donor reports. The Donor Accountant is required to provide financial specialised support in relation to the effective attainment of programme objectives and to work with Programme Managers in the compilation of timely, quality financial reports for a range of donors.

The Person

This role requires a qualified accountant with knowledge of Oxfam accounting systems. To be successful in this role you will have proven experience in donor financial report preparation and understanding of field operations and audit methodologies. Ability and willingness to work in a physically and mentally arduous environment, travel extensively to remote and sometimes high security environments, and preparedness to work unsociable hours is essential. Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory
