I Purpose of the position
The Project Officer contributes to programme related activities in the field location These activities relate to design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation activities as well as field activities with partner organisations and project communities, including training activities The Project Officer will be able to plan, monitor and report on his/her own activities and be able to support local partners and CBOs in this as well
II Main activities
Tasks, responsibilities, results

Project activities
Contribute to the development of the annual plan for the field location
Contribute to the development of the operational/activity plan for the field location
Contribute to the implementation of a monitoring plan on the activities
Collaborate with the local partners to develop an annual capacity building plan
Work with the local partners and their staff to design and prepare operational annual plans and annual partnership grant documents
Conduct monitoring and evaluation visits to project sites to review the implementation of project activities
Assist in preparation and monitoring of budgets for partners
Keep relevant financial records and make financial reports
Monitoring and Evaluation
Write and submit monthly reports and database information
Prepare and submit monthly reports of own activities and field visit reports
Assist with the preparation of progress reports to donors and WCH Head Office as requested
Support partner agencies in submitting reports up to acceptable standards

Training
Support local partner organisations in developing and implementing training plans for benefitting communities as well as their own staff
Conduct relevant training sessions and workshops with staff of partner organisations and/or representatives of the communities
Design and conduct capacity building training courses for partner organisations and/or representatives of the communities
Provide on-the-job capacity building support in activity planning, implementation and monitoring for partner organisations and CBOs

Other
Participate in Programme workshops as appropriate
Participate in programme reviews and evaluations
Assist in the identification of and networking with relevant key persons and institutions
Contribute to donor funding applications and reporting
Represent War Child as appropriate
Perform any other activity assigned by War Child, in line with these terms of reference and the fulfilment of the tasks

V Competencies

Knowledge
Relevant first degree
At least 2 years of work experience in community development projects and/or psychosocial work with a focus on education or protection issues
Knowledge and experience of Project Cycle Management
General computer skills and able to work with Excel, Word and Outlook
Proven ability to work in a multicultural environment
Good writing and reporting skills Good English & Arabic, spoken and written
Willingness and ability to travel in the country

The position is scaled on scale E of the conditions of service for national staff of War Child Holland - Sudan The scale presently attracts a gross salary monthly salary of between SDG 1692 and SDG 2412 depending on qualifications and experience Additionally, War Child pays a 13th month, medical allowance, pension contribution and severance benefits plus several other secondary benefits
The duty station is Khartoum with regular travel to project locations in Northern Sudan
