ZAIN1745 - NMC Engineer

Basic Information

To execute network supervision, routine preventive maintenance, and first line troubleshooting and remedial activities, as well as coordination of overall maintenance activities in the operation, in line with business requirements and procedures defined in Zain operating guidelines, in order to achieve network availability and performance targets

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Ensuring continuous 24/7 network supervision of all Zain SD Network nodes and segments
Carrying out all regular O&M routines and preventive maintenance activities so as to minimize system downtime, such as: system backups, routine hardware tests, monitoring the availability of network resources and capacities, switching and compression systems health check ... etc
Providing 1st line O&M including accurate and timely problem remedy, escalation, and resolution of any failures in the shortest possible time and within set reaction and remedy Time targets applicable to various fault categories
Following up on remedial efforts, including vendor support where engaged through Zain SD Network support engineers, until closure of the trouble ticket or NMC shift handover
Performing assessment, implementation and review of change requests in accordance with change management processes
Informing affected parties (customer care, interconnecting operators, and similar) of network service outages and degradations (whether planned or not), their extent and anticipated duration, as well as of eventual remedy
Participating in executing Network upgrade projects initiated by Projects Planning ,Control and Optimization Department as per requirements
Gathering statistical network performance data for performance analysis
Insure compliance with all applicable policies & regular requirements on Information Security

Competencies & Qualifications
B.Sc in Telecommunication Engineering
Comprehensive knowledge of all network segments and nodes(GSM/WCDMA)i
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Practical working experience in GSM is preferred
0-2 work years of experience
Capability of multi-tasking, good time management and prioritisation of workload
Ability to Work well in a busy team, being quick to learn, and deal with a wide range of issues
Good technical English, oral and written (equipment manuals and support)i
Strong analytical skills and able to collect and interpret data from various sources
Ability to work on shifts including weekends and holidays
Strong knowledge of basic computer skills (e.g. MS office applications)i
Good customer service skills especially through handling calls
